The product changed but the name remained. The idea of selling leather goods began in 2002 as we were spending weekends at local flea markets selling trash and trinkets. We decided to add some leather goods to our array of stuff, to test the waters. To our amazement we discovered there was more than an interest and need for affordable motorcycle leathers and accessories in our area. Jim’s immense knowledge and love of motorcycles was the impetus which then propelled us into the leather business. What started out as a hobby, mushroomed almost overnight into something bigger.

We quickly moved from our flea market location and, with permission from a local business, set up our display on a local street corner every weekend during the summer. People began to notice us and, instead of driving by, stopped in to check out the goods. Their initial curiosity turned to interest and then into trust and buying. To this day, some of our first ‘street corner’ customers are repeat customers. We get calls in March asking when we will be on ‘the corner’ again.

We both enjoy traveling and meeting and mingling with people so it was a logical that this should and would also be a ’mobile’ business. We would take the business on the road selling at motorcycle swap meets, motorcycle charity events, and various other chopper fests and run events. We started out small requiring only a 10’x10’ space at some of our first shows. With are meager profits from our first shows we reinvested into more and more leather, increasing the size of our business. By doing so this quickly escalated to two, then three and now four and sometimes five 10’x10’ spaces . We utilized every inch of our display space, yet we still have more goods on our “Big White Trailer” as back up.

With lots of hard work, aching backs, disagreements and faith in an idea, who would have thought that in just a short time, this old married couple needing extra income, would develop a rather successful ‘mobile’ leather apparel and accessory business. From the flea market to the street corner to a few local shows to shows all over Michigan and surrounding states, we are still going strong .
